Add IP’s and Additional SAN Storage On The Fly!
POSTED ON March 1st, 2011 by Aidan | 1 Comment » | Posted in applications stacks, cloud |

We’re delighted to announce some more new cool features in our customer management interface! We have listened to your feedback and are happy to roll out two new requested features:

1. IP Management

You wanted to be able to add new IP’s or remove old ones on the fly through your management interface. This can now be done quickly and easily, it also automatically updates your machines network interface with the new IP – meaning it’s ready to use instantly. Simply click Order IP, click Order Now and the IP is added.

2. Disk Management

You wanted to be able to add additional Storage to your machine without getting extra RAM. Now simply click on the “disks” tab in your web management interface, and click “Order extra disk space” which allocates more storage resources to your machine. To add to your server simply click on “edit” beside the disk you wish to increase and then select the amount of storage you want on that disk. [Note: resizing a disk may take a little bit of time and will mean downtime as the system needs to power down, resize the volume and boot up again].

As always if you would like to see any additional features added let us know and we can add it to our roadmap!

We are pleased to announce the roll-out of our new ISP Admin template which is built on the  Debian 5.0 operating system. ISP Admin is a complete management and billing system for small ISPs and particularly targets Wireless ISPs.

It is a proven and stable system that is currently used by more than 350 providers all around the world.

Additional Screenshots can be found Here.

ISP admin automatically performs the options of firewall, shaping, QOS. Presently it fully supports routers based on Linux and Mikrotik systems. The application further supports the internet provided through a cable television distribution (CATV). In this case the system insures the CMTS management and cable modems. ISP admin also supports automatic updates of firewall, Mangle and QueueTree.

It is an extensive project, which provides namely:
- Administration and general network management
- Records of end clients including project graphs of particular clients
- Managing client services, the material used, a photo -    documentation, service missions, etc.
- Advisory for clients with its possible mass distribution
- Managing contracts and documents, back-ups and user export
- Monitoring appliances in the net and reporting their possible failures
- Monitoring system Nagios
- Server statistics (e.g. utilization of lines, CPU, memory and other statistics of the process ongoing in a server)
- Planning module includes extended possibilities to plan engineers´ activities for their efficient use

The invoicing module is a part of the system. Every month invoices to all clients are automatically made out. The invoices are consequently shipped in PDF format via email. The system checks the settlement of the invoices according to a bank statement imported and if a settlement is overdue, it automatically suspends the services to a client.

One of the more popular templates from the huge range that we currently offer, is the e-commerce template Magento.

Magento provides feature-rich eCommerce platforms that offer merchants complete flexibility and control over the presentation, content, and functionality of their online channel.

By selecting the magento template on any of our cloud machines, it allows you within minutes to have the default magento installation up and running and ready to configure.

Our Cloud platform is proving to be a more popular alternative  to legacy technologies down to the cost savings and flexibility, allowing retailers to maximise profit margin from their e-commerce platform.

By allowing them to scale up during a busy period (eg. christmas) and scale back down in february or March when the demand is no longer there, it ensures retailers are not left paying for under utlized hardware for the other ten months of the year, but able to cope with the demand to ensure they can take the increased influx of online orders.

POSTED ON September 23rd, 2010 by Aidan | No Comments » | Posted in applications stacks, dediserve |

We’re delighted to announce, after a couple of very busy months, the launch of our new cloud platform & website  which we rolled into a live environment yesterday afternoon. So what’s changed?

In terms of the underlying physical infrastructure, nothing’s changed , however before we weren’t fully ultizing the full power of our cloud platform and were offering only limited specificationss and features. This allowed us to cut through any teething problems and start focusing on offering a true cloud platform. By using the Cloud OS , www.onapp.com we were better able to harness our cloud infrastructure into a customer based product and offer the current selection of cloud machines , ranging from 512mb to 8gb of Ram and up to 180Gb of high speed SAN storage.

We now are also now able to offer a huge selection of  cloud based hosted solutions including: E-mail , VOIP solutions , back-ups , hosted desktops web hosting solutions. We are basically now able to provide SME’s and individuals a complete outsourced office solution in the cloud – phone , website  , email , desktop , file systems – access your data from anywhere on the move, perfect for a busy company on the move.

If the above explanation is confusing don’t worry we’ve also made a great video explaining exactly what we do , Check it out! , thanks to igloo animations for this , they really nailed what we were trying to convey!

Another great new feature is our excellent list of application templates – http://www.dediserve.com/cloud-machines-templates.html We now provide a comprehensive list of pre-installed application stacks of all the most popular opensource software , allowing you to quickly and easily deploy machines that do what you need them to do within minutes. Save huge amounts of time and hassle by instantly bringing online servers ready for purpose!

We’ve also been listening to invaluable feedback over the last couple of months from existing customers. With that feedback we are happy to also announce we are also now supporting Microsoft Windows cloud machines. Windows server 2003 and 2008 , as well as probably the most popular server control panel software on the planet – cpanel , aswell as plesk and virtualmin.

As exciting as that is, the hard work doesn’t stop here for us :)   We have an very exciting roadmap of innovation. Some teasers include offering storage only solutions , iphone / android applications for server management , Red Hat  / Slackware OS support. Additional clouds on UK and US ip ranges and much, much more.

Follow us on this blog, Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin! to keep up to date with exciting developments!

Building Out A Cheap Redundant Clustered Architecture

Ganeti Cluster

As a server provider we constantly speak with customers about the best architecture for their server set-up. Ideally you are looking to provide a redundant, scalable server cluster with a good spec on a redundant platform at a good price.

This is something Dediserve can now provide at exceptional value , via a single user interface you can easily manage multiple virtual machines all running different technologies , you can have a dedicated mail server , database server and web server in your own virtualized cluster for as little as  €60 per month, and easily upgrade each individual server as the requirement of that server grows, meaning if you have a large database but small website , easily upgrade the database server to handle the added load whilst leaving the web server as is.

Taking The Pain out of Managing Your Server
POSTED ON October 5th, 2009 by Aidan | 2 Comments » | Tags: , , , ,

One of the most daunting aspects of server management that often scares and confuses people is the “command line” this is the black screen you see when you first SSH into your server. Being able to manage your server via the command line is a great skill to have but like most skills takes time to learn and master.

One of the best ways to circumnavigate this issue is to simple install a graphical user interface on the server. What this control panel allows you to do is to more easily manage your server via a more user friendly control panel.

One such control panel that we have pre-installed on our centos virtual servers is a control panel called Virtualmin.

Virtualmin as described via their website:

Virtualmin is a powerful and flexible web server control panel based on the well-known Open Source web-based systems management GUI, Webmin. Manage your virtual domains, mailboxes, databases, applications, and the entire server, from one comprehensive and friendly interface.
