Hi Carley,

With regards your queries:

1. Not at all, most providers will work with you, and allow you to just upgrade what you need, only Ram and cpu would be bundled, you can add storage / ip or transit as you see fit.

2. SAN i/o is perfectly normal for the majority of sites, if you have a high I/O site we can offer SSD disks or NFS mounts.

3. Not that we have seen, we have some hugely popular wordpress sites with no issues.

On your additional queries:

1. You can simply upgrade on the fly, once you select in your control panel what you want to upgrade to you get a pro-rata price with the details.

2. If you open a ticket with support they can give you some pointers.

3. yes your resources will sit in your account until your ready to build the machine.

Our cloud platforms can cope with any level of user requirements needed - any more queries email sales@dediserve.com and we'll get right back to you.

Thanks! Just got this offer via Twitter (@cmooki). I'm familiar with shared-reseller environment (heartinternet) but am a cloud/server noob.

I have some questions brought about by general noob VPS/Dedi/cloud research...

1. cloud can be expensive as it often forces you to upgrade all your resources (eg cant just upgrade one element).
2. poor disk i/o can give poor performance
3. cloud hosting does not cope well with Wordpress due to plugin data-leak

Also my own questions...

1. what happens if we outgrow the above spec? Do u have upgrade pricelist?
2. is there any "tweaking" that can be done to boost Wordpress/Buddypress performance?
3. can I buy now & setup late next week?

My site...

Its a new site based on Wordpress/Buddypress. Although we will test with smaller group to begin, we expect 100,000 visitors per month on launch (no idea how many will convert to become registered users).

Thanks in advance

" we also have an inter cloud failover solution coming online very soon as well"

That sounds awesome! Any chance of some teaser details? Was considering going to linode, but may hold out...

yep makes inter cloud movement easier as well - we also have an inter cloud failover solution coming online very soon as well.

So complete redundancy between physical data centres.

Wow guys, this is great. Not only for portability btw, I guess it can also be useful when replicating a server to one of your other datacenters. Sweet!
